BioHeat

BioHeat refers to energy in the form of heat that is generated from biological raw materials. Götz is made up of our family and our employees, working for the citizens of our community who want to make a contribution to climate protection.

Our heating networks

Since 2011 we have been operating a heating network in the industrial area of Markt Indersdorf, supplied by combined heat and power (CHP) units on Rieder Straße. In the meantime, the network has grown to around 8 km and supplies about 90 heat customers from the private, commercial, and public sectors to their full satisfaction.

Since 2013 we have also been supplying the primary and secondary school, including the indoor swimming pool and kindergarten in Markt Indersdorf, via a separate CHP unit.

Both locations are connected to our biogas plant in Ried through a total of around 4 km of biogas pipelines.

Since 2022 we have been operating another heating network in Markt Indersdorf, supplied by CHP units at our farm. This network has since grown to around 10 km and now supplies more than 120 heat customers, primarily residential buildings as well as parish buildings.

Frequently Asked Questions – Answered!

  • Our energy is beautiful because most of it is generated from the fermentation of plants. We sow, cultivate, and harvest around 30 different plant species, which bloom at different times in the most vibrant colors! Since our fields are located in the local region, our energy is not only biological in origin but also regional.

  • The electricity and heat we produce come from sustainable organic energy sources. Their biological/chemical energy is released in our fermenters as an energy-rich gas – biogas – which is then utilized in our combined heat and power (CHP) units. For this natural gas to be generated, certain conditions and requirements must be met. The plant parameters for the different microorganisms (temperature, pH value, and mixing) must be optimally adjusted, and energy-rich substrates (energy crops, manure) must be supplied in the right quantity and quality.

    1. The heat is generated in our CHP units and is either fed directly into the heating network or temporarily stored in one of our heat storage units.
    2. Through a heating pipeline, the thermal energy is then delivered to your home.
    3. There, it is transferred via a transfer station to a buffer storage tank, available in various designs. From this buffer tank, you can draw your sustainable heat as needed – with a good feeling. The heat carrier for this transport, from generation to consumption, is pure water.
  • In order to connect your property to our heating network, we require from you a limited personal easement (Grunddienstbarkeit).

The easement differs from usufruct (a comprehensive right of use) in that it only permits specific uses of the property, or certain actions – in our case, the laying and operation of the service line on your property.

Without this right, we would be exposed to risk. For example, you could take legal action against us for having connected your property or deny us access to your land. Since the heating network is intended to last for several generations, as a family business we have decided not to connect any properties without an easement. We hope you understand that we cannot accept this risk.

Electricity, water, and telecommunications providers also hold line rights on your property. The difference is that these companies can claim stronger public-law intervention rights. Electricity grid operators, for example, can rely on the Low Voltage Connection Ordinance (§ 12 NAV), and there are similar provisions in the Telecommunications Act. Unfortunately, there are no such regulations for heating networks, which is why the limited personal easement for the heat line must always be registered in the land register.

For the more than 80 properties we already supply sustainably with heat – in some cases for over 10 years – we have obtained such easements in every case. There are even situations where neighboring properties are connected across private land, as this is often the most resource-efficient solution.

The 3-meter protection strip is a legal requirement – for us it simply means that no deep-rooted trees should be planted directly above the pipeline.

Registering the heat line in the land register does not reduce the value of the property – in our opinion, it actually increases it significantly, as it ensures access to a fully sustainable heating source, something that not many properties can offer.

If for any reason the heat line needs to be relocated (e.g. in the case of a new building), we are open partners and will work with you to find the best possible solution.
